Turning Features Off
Some of the biggest drains on cellphone battery life happen when a person leaves many features running in the background when they are not in use. All applications such as Facebook, web browsers and Twitter should be closed when not in use. You should disable Bluetooth devices and shut off WiFi and 3G Internet connectivity if you are not using them. You can still make calls with all those features off. Choose between having your phone set either to ring or vibrate, but not both. Disable all unnecessary sounds and alerts.
Screen Settings
Another big drain on batteries is the phone screen. Every time a user checks a message, uses an application or gets on the phone, the light on the screen comes on. To save battery life, make sure to decrease your screen's brightness setting down to 50 percent (or lower if your eyesight can stand it). The screen brightness feature can be found in your phone's settings menu. At first it may look dim, but eventually your eyes should get used to the new contrast. You can also turn your backlight off. This is the light that stays on for 15 to 30 seconds every time you click a key on your phone. If you turn it off, then it will go off immediately when you are not using the phone, saving precious battery power.
Charging and Storage
While a phone can never be overcharged, if it stays on the charger for too long it can begin to heat up, which in turn could cause damage to a battery. This same danger can happen if the phone is stored in the sun for an extended period of time, or at a warm temperature. Keep the phone in a cool and dry place for maximum battery life over the life of the device. Also, do not constantly let the phone's battery drain to the zero mark. This puts needless strain on the battery. Charge it before it gets to zero whenever possible.
