Gravity Runner doesn't look like much in terms of graphics, but I was surprised at how much I really liked playing this 99 cent-game. Gravity Runner is an iPhone app developed by We Are Colin Ltd. and has been recently updated. I read all of the reviews on its App Store page and I was excited to purchase the game because it seemed to have received plenty of good reviews.
Gameplay: The concept of the gameplay is actually quite simple. However, since I like playing simple games, I figured that this would be a good choice for me especially when I just want to play a pretty casual game. In the game, Colin is the runner and the player has to simply tap on the screen in order to make Colin jump or to make the whole screen/scene flip. Making the scene flip means that Colin can easily evade obstacles and other enemies. The gameplay reminds me of playing another game, although Gravity Runner's graphics make the gameplay much more interesting.
Graphics: In terms of graphics, Gravity Runner gets a good score. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I would give Gravity Runner's graphics an 8. Some people will probably not like the graphics, especially if they like 3D or more "modern" graphics. But, if you are like me and you like retro graphics, then you will most likely enjoy Gravity Runner's graphics. The colors were well-chosen, too. The graphics seem to be unique to this game. In other words, the graphics designer of this game didn't try to copy Super Mario's "classic" graphics.
Controls: The controls are definitely easy to use, especially since Colin moves by himself. I like these types of games because I do not have to use a d-pad. A direction pad is sometimes needed, but in this case it would just take too much space on the screen. The app also responds well to touch, so you don't have to press very hard on the screen in order for your command to register.
Recommendation: All in all, I would highly recommend Gravity Runner. If you have a dollar to spend on a simple yet addictive game, you might try Gravity Runner. The graphics are decent but the gameplay is where the game really shines. Whether you are a kid or you are a kid at heart, you may enjoy playing Gravity Runner like I did.
