There has been a lot of hot debates when it comes to determinig the best nokia phone. While some argue on the basis of speed, capability, stability and other technical specifications, others do argue on the basis of design, suitability and price. although both angles may be plausible, I stand with the opinion that the best phone is the one with superior technical ability and power.
In terms of raw power and technical ability, the new Nokia N900 comes out clearly superior to all other Nokia handsets. Announced in the August of 2009, it raised the eyebrows of all Nokia competitors like Apple and Samsung. Most importantly, the announcement was received with hype by Nokia smartphone users. Its 'the new kid on the block' and it stands isolated compared to other Nokia smartphones. All nokia smartphones run on the symbian operating system, which has faced stern criticism and arguably losing ground to other operating systems.
However, the new Nokia N900 runs on the Maemo 5 operating system- used on the Nokia range of internet tablets such as the N810. It is a powerful operating system based on Linux and has a desktop like experience. This device is actually an internet tablet that has been given phone capabilities. Nokia have other powerful devices that don't seem to match the N900 on the technical and practical front. The Nokia N97 has been considered the best nokia device but fails to competitively compare to the N900 in terms of hardware. The N900 boasts a powerful 600mhz processor compared to the N97's 434mhz. It has a ram of 256mb that is double that of the N97. Both phones have a TFT resistive touchscreen with a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
Though they may be similar in some fronts, the N900 is a phone with raw power and speed, tested to run 24 applications smoothly with no speed lags. Having an internal memory of 32 gigabytes, it has the ability to store large amounts of data. It is also the first Nokia phone to support numerous video codecs, including xVid with no additional software. The focal point of the Nokia N900, which clearly makes it stand out above all other mobile devices, is the web browsing experience and speed. The browser is developed by Mozilla with Adobe Flash 9.4 installed. It sets a landmark as the first phone with active flash and its perfomance is superb. Even before the release, this new Nokia device has stolen the limelight, and it surely gives Nokia a headache on whether to continue marketing the N97 or shift attention to this beast of a phone.
