How to Use Unlock Codes for a Sony Ericson Cyber Shot Mobile Phone

All Sony Ericcson Cyber-Shot series phones use unlock codes to lift the restrictions on using SIM cards from other cell service providers. Cellular networks install software that restricts the use of SIM cards from other networks before selling the phone. The unlock code removes this restriction and allows the owner to use the mobile phone with any carrier. Many service providers will tell you the unlock code if you call customer service.

Instructions

1.Dial *#06# to display the mobile's IMEI number. This unique identification code is required to generate the unlock code. 2.Contact the customer service department at your cellular service provider. Supply the IMEI number and request the subsidy unlock code for your Cyber-Shot series mobile. 3.Turn off the mobile and remove the SIM card. Turn the phone back on without the SIM card. 4.Press the left arrow one time, then the "*" button two times followed by the left arrow once more and the message "Personalize with MNC2" will appear. 5.Enter the subsidy unlock code obtained previously and the phone will automatically unlock. The phone will now accept any SIM card.
