Report: 7-inch GoogleTablet Coming in July

Report: 7-inch GoogleTablet Coming in July - Those folks into technology know Google has long been a big name in the industry. What started out as a small search engine many years ago has blossomed into a company that has its hands in many different facets of the computer and information technology sector.

One area that they have not had a strong presence in is the tablet arena, a market where smart manufacturers are now focusing their attention on.

Google hopes to grab a bigger share of the market, with a 7-inch Google tablet.

If you are looking for the latest in electronics, then you are most likely doing your homework on tablets. Tablets have quickly become the "next big thing" on the market, so much that many consumers have abandoned the tried and true desktop or laptop setup. They do this because they are looking for something that increases their mobility even that much more. For those looking for competitive prices, they have been hard to find for the most part. That is because the market has been dominated by the Apple iPad or the Kindle Fire.

This new Google offering will not be the company's first foray into the tablet area. In their Google Play Store, which just made its debut about a week ago, they are offering the Galaxy Nexus at a price of $399. The difference with this new tablet is that it is a Google collaboration, not one from another manufacturer that they are selling in their online store. In this case, Google has hooked up with Asus to produce this latest tablet.

The question is, why would a consumer want to stray away from the two big names in the arena? After all, Google is not well known in this market, so one never knows what kind of equipment they are getting. Google is first betting that have a manufacturer like Asus being involved will excite some. Also on the list of good reasons to take a look, according to an Information Week piece, is that the new tablet will have Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) installed, along with an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

The real selling point though, might end up being the price you will pay. Google is talking about this new offering being priced at $199. Now compare that to the Apple iPad, and it will leave you shaking your head at the price difference. The obvious dilemma for the consumer will be whether you believe that the two will be comparable in quality. That will not be known until the new tablet comes out. According to sources, Google is hoping to launch it in a July time frame, hoping to capitalize on some market share, well ahead of its competition. Users should be able to get their hands on one by buying the tablet from the Google Play Store.
