BlackBerry smartphones such as the Pearl and Curve let you do a variety of things, including emailing, chatting, texting and sending pictures. When you are roaming (i.e., going outside your usual network due to travel or other reasons), you may incur extra charges if you are using Data Services to run network applications. To avoid these fees, just disable Data Services when roaming.
Instructions
1. Turn on your BlackBerry phone and select "Options" using the trackball.
2. Select "Mobile Network" from the options screen and choose "Off When Roaming" under "Data Services."
3. Press the "Menu" key on your BlackBerry device and click "Save" to save the changes.
