iPhone 4S is on the market and in the consumers’ hands for a little more than a month and with all its shortcomings managed to get ahead its competitors, in more than one aspect. The latest news about iPhone 4S’ top performance comes from the photo sharing website Flickr.com. According to recent MacRumor observations, the Camera Finder stats posted on Flickr revealed that iPhone 4S camera increased in popularity at a fast speed.Flickr provides data collected from the file’s metadata of the pictures posted on the website as the cameras used to capture images are detected automatically. Consequently, the reports are perceived as unbiased and the only thing that can alter the results could be some handsets that cannot provide pictures with accurate metadata. This translates into certain phone brands being underrepresented. However, according to Flickr, more than two thirds of the pictures posted are able to participate in the survey and can indicate accurate trends in camera usage.
According to Flickr data, iPhone 4S (link to some deals if you are interested) managed to gain the second position in cameraphones hierarchy among Flickr users. The “top dog” is still iPhone 4’s camera at a huge gap from the rest of the crowd and iPhone 3G and 3GS are competing for the third and fourth position. HTC EVO 4G has a steady presence and now holds on to the fifth place in the smartphones camera popularity top. When it comes to overall camera popularity in a pecking order that includes traditional cameras not only smartphone cameras, iPhone 4 beats them all, managing to top big names like Nikon (D90) and Canon (EOS 5D Mark II, EOS REBEL T2i, EOS 7D).
