Rising Popularity Of Android

It is to be noted that popularity of Android has been rising slowly with several smartphone makers rolling out handsets using the Android platform. A Nielsen report in January said that though popularity of Android has risen, Apple’s iOS is the number one mobile OS platform. Now in a study conducted by Nielsen among 14, 701 Americans said that 29% of the post paid mobile phone subscribers had Android devices. 27% of the subscribers had iOS device while 27% had RIM devices.

The growth in the Android platform will surly give its counterparts some sleepless night. However, fragmentation still remains one of the major concerns of Android. At the same time, vulnerability of the platform against malware attacks also needs to be addressed by Google. With Google opening Android Market from where users can download their favorite Android apps, the popularity of the OS is expected to rise further in coming days.
